What is Chi Alpha?
Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship is a movement of students who are
earnestly striving to follow Jesus Christ. We enjoy getting together
in order to meet with God, meet among friends and meet real needs. In
Chi Alpha, you will experience:
-
The presence of God as you draw close to Him through times of
WORSHIP and celebration
-
Effective and meaningful times of PRAYER individually and in group
settings.
-
Meaningful relationships developed through activities, sharing, fun
and wholesome FELLOWSHIP.
-
A deeper knowledge and faith in God, and a better understanding of
the DISCIPLESHIP process. This is accomplished through small group
ministry (PODs), special retreats, and annual conferences.
-
Opportunities to share your faith in Jesus with others through your
WITNESS. This might include evangelistic events, kindness outreaches
or community service.
Overall, here is our goal: Reconciling Students to Christ –
Transforming the University, the Marketplace, and the World.
What kind of name is Chi Alpha?
The Greek letters Chi (X) and Alpha (A) are the initials of a phrase
written by the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:20 (Christou
apostoloi). Translated, it means "Christ's sent ones." This name
is a reminder that we should live to reflect Jesus.
Are there Chi Alpha groups at other campuses?
Chi Alpha is a fairly new campus ministry here at Texas State. However, our
group is part of a national movement of campus ministries known as Chi
Alpha Christian Fellowship. Chi Alpha has been in existence for over
50 years. XA is on over 240 campuses here in the U.S. and has close
association with hundreds of other groups around the world. Check out
the national Chi Alpha web page
in order to tell your friends on other campuses about Chi Alpha. XA is
sponsored by the Assemblies
of God and is open to students from every religion and ethnic
background.

Join a POD (small group)
POD stands for partnership, outgrowth, and discipleship. These are
our goals in POD. PODs are student-led and meet once a week at
various times and places around campus. A typical POD is 5-10
students and is either all male or all female. POD members pray for
one another, share their experiences as a student, establish
spiritual accountability, relate God’s Word to their lives as young
adults, and have tons of fun.
E-mail us if you
would like to be contacted by a POD leader.
